Use of a cliche never bothered me when I was younger. Lately, however they have really been annoying me. I hear them incessantly on the news and on the TV. I see them in print magazines and in the newspaper. I do a LOT of reading online. Reading any kind of articles or blogs online you will find that it is filled with them. Looking back through many of my own blog posts I was not surprised to learn that I have been guilty of using them as well.
A cliche is a phrase, expression, or idea that has been overused to the point of losing its intended force or novelty, especially when at some time it was considered distinctively forceful or novel.
As I progress with this blog posting thing I am going to try very hard to avoid them from now on. You let me know if I slip up OK?

Well you certainly hit the head on the nose with that one. It’s like paddling upstream without a fiddle or crying over split seams. You have to remember that’s just the way the cookie bounces, it’s milk under the bridge and the quicker you come to your fences the farther off you’ll see.
Or something like that
